Case Study: Strategic Inventory Optimization – SMC Supply Chain

This case study focused on evaluating and comparing two inventory ordering proposals for SMC, weighing the trade-offs between higher ordering frequency and inventory carrying costs. Through cost analysis using the Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) model, I demonstrated that adopting the EOQ of 165 units significantly reduced total annual costs by over $3,600 compared to both original strategies. The study also included a robustness test for minor fluctuations in order sizes, reinforcing EOQ’s effectiveness in maintaining cost efficiency. These insights underscore the importance of data-backed procurement planning in streamlining operational expenses and enhancing supply chain resilience.

Case Study: Omnichannel Logistics and Return Optimization – Joiner & Sons Hardware

In this multi-channel logistics case, I led a strategic assessment of fulfillment channels including BOPUS, BODDC, and BODFS to identify the most cost-efficient and customer-friendly options. By analyzing cost per unit, customer behavior, and logistics feasibility, I recommended prioritizing BODFS (delivery from store) due to its alignment with inventory availability, reduced delivery costs, and in-store return preference. A detailed EOQ analysis further validated how increased sales volume reduced COGS per unit. Additionally, a customer return strategy was proposed to minimize financial loss while enhancing the in-store experience, ensuring Joiner & Sons could scale efficiently while preserving profit margins.

Case Study: Drone-Based Last-Mile Delivery – Kroger Logistics Innovation

This case explored Kroger’s pilot and expansion plan for drone-based last-mile grocery delivery across five U.S. cities. I created an 8-quarter strategic rollout plan analyzing drone fleet requirements, site selection, market regulations, and city-specific demand forecasts. A data-driven dashboard was developed to visualize order volume, growth trends, and projected impact on revenue, inventory turnover, and COGS. Through SWOT analysis and financial modeling under conservative and aggressive adoption scenarios, the study concluded that drone delivery could drive up to 3% annual sales growth and transform Kroger’s last-mile logistics into a competitive advantage, especially against rivals like Amazon and Walmart.
