SOCIAL SERVICE

As part of my commitment to community upliftment through technology, I have voluntarily supported two non-profit organizations Big Brothers and Big Sisters of America (BBBSA) and MESA by providing end-to-end data engineering and application development solutions. My contributions aim to help these organizations save on expensive technical overhead while maximizing their community impact.

Big Brothers and Big Sisters of America (Ventura County)– Youthcase Hackathon Platform

At BBBSA, I led the development of a full-stack digital solution to manage youth center activities. I architected a secure database system in MySQL, designed API backends using Node.js, and built mobile and web frontends with Flutter and React. The system supports real-time attendance tracking, mentorship scheduling, and analytics dashboards for administrative staff. By automating these workflows and centralizing data, the platform has significantly enhanced operational efficiency, improved mentor-youth engagement, and enabled strategic data-driven planning. This solution was deployed at no cost to the organization, saving thousands in technology implementation and maintenance.

MESA

At MESA, I volunteered to help modernize data systems and digitize student support services. My work involved designing scalable backend infrastructure and building a lightweight web application to monitor attendance, program participation, and mentor feedback. The goal was to streamline student support tracking and empower staff with real-time performance dashboards. Just like with BBBS, this initiative helped MESA avoid commercial licensing and third-party development costs, allowing them to allocate more resources to education and mentorship.

Through both projects, I was able to use my professional skill set as a Data Engineer to give back to the community. These collaborations reinforced my belief that technology, when applied thoughtfully, can drive meaningful change, especially for underserved youth populations.
